Love these bold, playful pieces from Australian based jewelry (and homeware) designers, Dinosaur Designs. Especially digging the recent Bones collection.

Gucci brings it in Milan.
Frida Giannini brought it this week to the Gucci runway in Milan. She brought it hard. She brought it in bold color. She even brought neutrals and blacks that somehow spoke more to an S&M aesthetic than to safe khaki.

Thank you Marchesa. Silhouettes will never be the same.
From the runways of New York Fashion Week, may I present to you my absolute favorite collection. Of all time. Brit designers, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa, have changed the way I will look at shape and silhouette forever and ever, amen.I would wear these elegant gowns and cocktail dresses to your wedding, I would wear them to my wedding, I would wear them to the bloody supermarket if I didn't think you'd spill your Trader Joe's sample meatball on me.
A few of my favorite looks below...

One Year of Moods of Norway in LA [Photo Gallery]
In college, most of my friends went abroad to Spain or Italy or took more noble ventures to the likes of Burma and Tibet. Well, I had fantasies of the amazing health care system and fancy accents of Norway. This pipe dream lasted until I found out that the country was dark for half the year and had an alarming rate of weather-related suicides. Oh, and until I picked up the Norwegian 101 textbook from the library. That language is not something one can just 'pick up' as it turns out.
Lucky for me, and all of us really, three young designers from the little town of Stryn, Norway started Moods of Norway and brought it to Robertson Blvd. last year. And for a country that's so dark, these guys and their collection of women's and menswear are surprisingly colorful.
Pictures from the brand's one year anniversary party (and yes, that's a golden tractor)...

Spring styles to adore from Rojas. [Design Dish]
LA's Rojas can be hit or miss. The lookbook for Spring 2010 just came out and it's looking like a lot of hits. Hits that I want to own. Hits that I want to wear. Hits that I wish were available for purchase immediately/right now/yesterday for sale online. I will have to stop into the Melrose shop this weekend to indulge my Spring shopping fix and fill the season's quota for poofy pants and pastels.

Design Dish: a behind the scenes with Ai for Ai.
Every time I think I have discovered every talent my friends have, they surprise me with another one. As it turns out, my friends are unnaturally gifted. And if they weren't my friends I'd be jealous. But as they are my friends, I am just incredibly proud.
Elizabeth and Carol Ai are two of the sweetest, sassiest and most stylish ladies I know. Well, because they're so gosh darn generous, they've decided to share their good style with the rest of us. They've just launched Ai for Ai, a women's fashion collection that's feminine, sexy and totally on trend. If you need one word for it...try fabulous.
The girls shared this image above with me--it's a behind-the-scenes sneak peak of the designers' look book featuring the talented and beautiful artist Mercedes Helnwein whose work I covet as well.
Ai for Ai is hitting an impressive roster of stores soon. I, for one, am thrilled and excited and dying for it all at once.
Visit the Ai for Ai Blog.
Follow Ai for Ai on Twitter. (They're always sharing awesome bits.)

Design Dish: Levis + Opening Ceremony + Ryan McGinley = Awesome
Levi's and Opening Ceremony have collaborated on a line. Which I find bizarre and fascinating and wonderful. and photog Ryan McGinley, who's been getting lots of buzz lately (he recently shot Olympian athletes wearing Rodarte for NYT), shot the campaign. Wow. Stunning.

Skin Deep: American Apparel recalls its new nail lacquers. Oops.
It feels like just last week that American Apparel's own collection of nail lacquers hit stores. Ah, perhaps that's because it pretty much was.
The polishes are available no longer as there were 'quality' issues with the glassware. Oops. I guess the brand that's so accustomed to creating flimsy, barely there clothes couldn't create a functioning glass bottle.

Obsessions: Barbie + Christian Louboutin create a new modern classic.
Barbie is classic. Christian Louboutin is classic. Together, they are a force beyond reckoning with.
Next month, the world's most celebrated shoe designer and famed bobblehead beauty will release a collaborative doll that trades out Barbie's usual blond tresses and good girl looks with a red do and a leather ensemble on the verge of X-Rated.
For more info on this Barbie doll you'd be best to keep away from your children, visit Barbie Collector.

We Like to Party [Gallery]: teens, sex & rock'n'roll at Macy's Passport.
On Friday night, busloads (and I do mean busloads) of teens were brought in to Santa Monica's Barker Hanger for Macy's Passport, an annual fashion show that raises money and awareness for HIV/AIDS charities. The Passport show many of us know is the adult version--welcome speeches by Sharon Stone and Elizabeth Taylor and black-tie-clad fashionistas and philanthros swarming around in a pre-Fashion Week buzz. But the second night of Passport--Macy's deems Teen Night.
And it's official--if I could do everything with teenagers instead of adults, I would. From the rivalrous high school chants across the show floor to their unbridled enthusiasm for the washboard abs of the male underwear models to their kick-ass style--these kids are just plain cooler than half the grown ups I know.
Some stylin' teens from the pre-show reception...
Hugo Boss showcased the worst design of the evening. A Peter Pan-esque number that I hope I never see off the catwalk...
And the most popular style of the night was, naturally, the one that involved the least actual clothing...

Emmy beauties, busts and breasts.
I don't watch award shows. I don't watch enough TV to know who half the 'talent' are (Do Survivor contestants really count as talent? Seriously??) and I don't have a long enough attention span to sit through the obligatory thank you speeches (to managers, to mothers, to lovers, to mistresses, to podiatrists) that follow.
What I do on award nights is generally a) work, and b) judge the stars and their hideous, hugely public mistakes.
Below--a recap of the stars that shone. And those who have clearly gone off their meds and fired their stylists.
I adore Patricia Arquette. She's my favorite Arquette, in fact. I adore Medium. I think Medium should win lots and lots of Emmy awards. I do not adore this dress or the gigantic mountain of a breast that's emerging from it however.
Til the next award show and the next style catastrophe,
Jessie B. R.

Below--a recap of the stars that shone. And those who have clearly gone off their meds and fired their stylists.
THE SHINERS
Kate Walsh - I both admire that color on you and also the way your breasts are doing their thing in a dress that is clearly not meant to support adult size anatomy. Well done.
I know that cancer research is a priority, but shouldn't scientists be investigating how Heidi Klum maintains such a perfectly round, beach ball-esque bump?
Toni Collette--you go girl. That's all I have to say. You GO!
Olivia Wilde was the stunner of the night. I saw this dress in person and it was just as magnificent as it looks in the pictures. How it stays on is anyone's guess, but damn it looks good once it's on.
Let's get the worst out of the way immediately. Because I need to address this and then never look back. Victoria Rowell. I'm gonna be real. I have absolutely no idea who you are. But friend--this dress is not ok. It is not even ok in some alternate universe where awful style is acceptable and you can dress like a blue dollar bill. The only thing that is redeeming about this dress is that there are no sleeves. Because any more of this pattern and I might have become severely ill.
I'm not sure what it is about this dress. But Mila Kunis evokes an image for me of Glenda, the Good Witch. Just imagine a wand in her right hand. Close your eyes. Click your heels three times. Make a wish. And perhaps this outift might start to look better.
